Understanding Out-of-Network Benefits for Rehab

If your plan has out-of-network (OON) benefits, you may be able to attend a treatment center that isn't in your insurer's network — often with strong coverage. Here's how it works.

What out-of-network means

In-network providers have a contract with your insurer. Out-of-network providers don't — but many PPO plans still cover a percentage of OON care after you meet an OON deductible. That percentage can be substantial.

Why it matters

OON benefits give you access to specialized private programs that might be a better clinical fit than the limited in-network options. It's about matching you to the right care, not just the cheapest.

How to find out what you have

OON terms are buried in plan documents and easy to misread. Let us verify it for you — we'll decode your deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum, and tell you in plain English what your OON coverage means for you.
